Welcome to Wind River Wormery. We produce red wiggler composting worms, castings, and garden seedlings in Lander, Wyoming. We are passionate about composting to grow productive, nutritious, and vibrant garden plants. Vermiculture should be fun and easy, and we’d love to help you get started.
Who
we are
At Wind River Wormery, we are Emma and Nick Freeland, a husband and wife team dedicated to raising happy healthy compost worms in the Lander Valley. Composting to boost productivity in the garden has always been a hobby; we’ve experimented with many compost methods over the years, including hot composting, leaf mould, sheet composting right in the garden beds, straw bale gardening, etc. However, incorporating vermiculture into our production a few years ago took the soil health in our gardens to the next level. Plus we loved composting with the worms indoors through the long winter when our outdoor compost piles would freeze solid. We offer worms and starter kits for those who are ready to take the vermiculture plunge, as well as plants grown at our production site with castings. We sell in person at garden events or you can reach out via email to get in touch about purchasing worms.

Plant Starts - Seasonal
We produce plant starts with worm castings mixed into the growing medium to get the seedlings off to a strong start. In 2025, we will be selling frost-tolerant vegetables and herbs at the Lander Garden Expo. See you there on April 26!
